برنامج 

JumpStart

The Jumpstart program allows high school juniors and seniors to take an intensive Arabic summer course on campus for college credit. Students enjoy a variety of educational and fun-filled cultural activities throughout the program in addition to mentoring and tutoring specifically for high school students. 

     There are scholarships available for qualifying students. The program offers two tracks for scholarships: Jumpstart to Flagship and Jumpstart to College. Jumpstart to Flagship is for seniors who will be joining the U of A in Fall 2019 as a freshman and plan to join the Arizona Arabic Flagship Program. This track offers full funding for both/either summer session. Jumpstart to College is for rising juniors and seniors who are motivated to earn college credit and pursue advanced Arabic. This track offers a tuition reduction to approximately $600 per summer session. 

      The Jumpstart program application is currently open! You can find the application at https://uarizona.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3kM5p4uq7LOKlbT. The deadline has been extended to May 1st.

Biography

I teach and study Arabic dialects, language ideology, and the history of Arabic. I completed my Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University in 1991. I am currently an Associate Professor of Arabic Studies in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies.
